Zomato Shows Us How We Ordered Food Online In 2015

Zomato has released the findings of a study conducted to figure out the ordering habits of India. The data was collected over eight months from 14 cities, 15,000 restaurants and more than 1 millions online orders. The Gurgaon based company, which started its online ordering in May of this year, put out a report featuring stats and information on how Indians ordered food.

The restaurant discovery service has outlined the trends of online ordering in the report. According to the report, over 85% of users order food through their mobile phones, with apps like Zomato order or through mobile web. The stat explains further that over 53% of those ordering through their phones use Android, with iOS coming a distant second at 29% 

The report also shows the average order value of food placed from the metros across India, with Kolkata at the top at Rs.690 and Pune coming in last at Rs. 450. The average order value for food across all the cities was Rs. 541. The report also published some facts regarding the eating habits of people in India. Chicken Biryani, Butter Chicken and Pizza were some of the most frequently ordered food items with customers preferring North India, Chinese and Italian cuisines the most.
