Young Chef Olympiad To Be Organized By IIHM

India’s leading hotel management school, Indian Institute of Hotel Management (IIHM) will organise the 2nd edition of Young Chef Olympiad in New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Kolkata from January 27th to February 1st. The event will host over 67 countries with competitions spread across the four cities and young chefs competing for the grand title and a cash prize of $10,000.

The event, supported by Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, will encourage participants to connect with global trends and will act as a platform to nurture talent in different fields. Speaking about the grand event, Dr. Suborno Bose, Chairman of Young Chef Olympiad and CEO, IIHM said, “The intention is to scale up every year and globally reach out to as many countries as possible for the culinary event. Food has always been the biggest unifier and continues to be so in today’s day and age.”

This year’s Young Chef Olympiad will host participants from England, Malaysia, France, Australia, USA and China with young chefs from these countries competing against the best young chefs in India for the coveted title. “The main objective of the Young Chef Olympiad is to produce world-class international chefs every year. Connecting the students from India with world-class chefs from across the globe will not only bridge bonds but will also lay foundations of a global connect that will go a long way in each of their careers,” said Dr. Bose. 

The grand ceremony for the event will take place on January 27th at the Talkatora Indoor Stadium in New Delhi. There will be several cook-off competitions taking place in New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Kolkata with winners participating in the grand finale in Kolkata on February 1st. The jury for the competition will comprise of renowned names from the food world including chef Eric Neo, president of Singapore Chef Association, chef Kunal Kapur and Karen Anand, an Indian food critic. The event will be supported by leading hotel chains, Hyatt Hotels, ITC Hotels and Leela Hotels.
