Yauatcha Celebrates Its 5th Anniversary in Bengaluru, And You Don’t Want To Miss It

Earlier this month, Yauatcha, the dimsum tea house from London, unveiled a new menu across all locations in India to Celebrate its 5th anniversary. The menu was crafted by Head Chef Wang Yixuan, and comprises dimsum, wok dishes and desserts to mark the five years that Yauatcha has been in India.

ABOUT YAUATCHA

Yauatcha is a Chinese dim sum teahouse offering an all-day dining experience. Launched in 2004 in the heart of Soho in London, Yauatcha gained immediate critical acclaim and received its Michelin star within a year of opening which it continues to maintain. Yauatcha provides a unique dining experience, offering authentic dim sum with a contemporary influence as well as wok dishes and other small eats. The concept is a modern interpretation of the traditional Chinese teahouse featuring a wide range of Chinese, Indian, Japanese and Taiwanese teas. Yauatcha is also known for its handmade petitsgateaux, macarons available both a la carte and retail.

Yauatcha is currently located in London, in Soho and in the City, as well as in Mumbai, New Delhi, Bengaluru and Kolkata, and will be launching in Houston and Waikiki in 2017.

WHAT’S ON THE NEW MENU?

With raging appetites, we headed to Yauatcha to see what the menu had to offer, and boy, were we in for a treat! We ordered the Spicy hargu, a prawn dimsum that was refreshingly good. You could taste the meatiness of the prawn with just a hint of spices; the mandarin dumpling, this had the sweetness of pommegranates, and the sourness of the mandarin and was truly a treat to the tastebuds; the chicken and corriander dumpling which was humble and full of flavour; and the pork wonton which stole the show – pork filled wontons served in flavorsome schezwan sauce, absolutely worth it!

The main course was a pleasurable gastronomic affair. We had the lotus leaf wrapped fried rice with shiitake mushrooms and edamame which was a burst of flavours and textures, and left us wishing we had space for more! To accompany the fried rice was the port klang styled chilli prawns which were golden fried with the perfect balance of sweet and sour.

Next came the eagerly awaited dessert. Yauatcha is known for their desserts, so we waited in anticipation for the citrus tart. It came beautifully plated with a serving of mandarin sorbet. If there was a ruler of dessert heaven, this would definitely be it. The tart was sweet, creamy and the crust was buttery and delicious. The sorbet beautifuly compliment the sweetness of the tart with the mandarin adding a zingy edge. A true match made in heaven!

We ended our meal, on a high note, with a cup of hot jasmine tea that we were assured would help us digest all the food we had just eaten! 

The dimsum menu also features mushroom spring roll with black truffle, radish puff, and many droolworthy creations. The latest additions to the wok dishes include Spicy aubergine, French bean and okra, Pork belly yellow bean sauce with mantou, and Sichuan style lobster with vermicelli. To complete your meal you can indulge in other desserts like the eggless Chocolate pebble, and Blueberry pistachio bar amongst others.
