We Were Wowed By The Awadhi Feast Curated By Chef Rehman at Sheraton Grand Bengaluru Whitefield Hotel and Convention Center


Food festivals are a great way to sample the cuisines from different regions, for those of us that don’t have the luxury of travelling as much as we’d like! We had always wanted to sample the Awadhi cuisine from way up in the north, and we were excited to find that Chef Rehman had come down specifically to bring the flavors of Lucknow to us in Bengaluru!

The spread of dishes available at Feast, the all-day dining restaurant at the Sheraton Grand Bengaluru Whitefield, left nothing to be desired as we ‘feasted’ (pun intended) on some delicious Mahi Sarson Tikka, Lal Mirch Paneer, and Murgh Chowrangra Tikka – and that was just the beginning!

One of the things that stood out for us was the Shermal Roti cooked up at the Live Station, the difference in the texture to a normal roti was the flakiness of the texture as well as the gorgeous burst of flavour from the generous amounts of ghee poured one!

Another interesting thing that we discovered, is that they actually don’t have biryani in Awadhi cuisine, instead they actually have pulao – which actually requires a more refined level of cooking (fun fact) hence the flavors were more subtle and understated, but still brilliant!

We also experimented with trying the Mahi Badami, which had lovely rich cashew flavors which we wouldn’t have originally associated with a fish dish! From the vegetarian options the Lagan Ki Bhindi was a hit for us, while the Bharwan Tamatar provided an interesting experience!

On the dessert side of things, we loved the Apricot Kheer (a very special dish specific to the region) and gorged ourselves happily on the delicacy – we got to say, we can’t wait for the next food festival at the Sheraton Grand Bengaluru Whitefield, because this one blew our minds!
