David Gelb, the filmmaker behind ‘Jiro Dreams of Sushi‘, has created a documentary series called ‘Chef’s Table’ which will premiere on April 26th.
The series will star six of the world’s most celebrated and ambitious international chefs: Massimo Bottura of Osteria Francescana (Italy), Dan Barber of Blue Hill at Stone Barns (New York), Ben Shewry of Attica Restaurant (Melbourne), Francis Mallmann of El Restaurante Patagonia Sur (Buenos Aires), Niki Nakayama of N/Naka Restaurant (Los Angeles), and Magnus Nilsson of Fäviken (Sweden).
Each episode will follow the lives of a single chef and his or her vigorous pursuit of their ideal restaurant. It could be the highest Michelin star rating or the most sustainable sourcing practices, or even the most innovative interpretations of food as a work of art.
“What I didn’t understand when I was just looking at the beauty is just how torturous it is,” Dan Barber utters at one point. And you know he’s talking from a wealth of experience.
Season 1 of Chef’s Table premieres exclusively on Netflix on April 26.
