Vodka and Red Bull is a pretty common drink to order at the club (never mind that the can says explicitly, *Do not mix with alcohol*). However, some butchers in Ireland are taking it to the next level with Vodka Red Bull Sausages! Pregaming will never be the same again, and neither will barbecues.
Alcohol-infused sausages are now sold at two separate meat shops in Irvinestown and County Down. At Maguire Meats, you can buy Vodka Red Bull Sausages, and yes, they use Smirnoff.
Keelan Maguire told Belfast Live “We were thinking about the sausage range for the summer and this was the craziest one we could think of. So we gave it a go and it worked out very well and they are very popular.”
Over at McCartney’s of Moira, a Belfast establishment that’s been around for more than 50 years, there are several alcoholic sausages on the menu. The butchery and deli sell Beef Sausage With Guinness and recently launched two new summer sausages: Kopparberg Pear Pork Sausages, made with Kopparberg Cider, and Gin and Tonic Pork Sausages.
Judith Millar, who runs the shop with her sister Sarah Price, told the Belfast Telegraph they got the idea because everyone is going “gin mad” this summer.
“We thought we would try and drum up a bit of interest with new sausage flavors,” she said. “I had this notion about gin and tonic as a flavor, as it’s a very popular and cool and trendy thing at the minute.”
Are alcohol infused sausages worth a trip to Northern Ireland? We think so!
