Veganuary Is The Latest Detox Trend This New Year

on

The New Year brings about a host of resolutions whether it’s eating healthier or hitting the gym more. However, this time, it looks as though people are committed to seeing Veganuary through. Supermarkets in the UK confirmed that there was a five-fold increase in the search for vegan food in the days leading up to the new year.

People started searching for products which did not contain any meat or dairy. This is close on the heels of Pizza Hut announcing that they will be serving vegan pizza at select outlets. Sainsbury’s have announced a new Vegan range which released on the first of January, and Aldi will be releasing new lines later this week, describing the decision as “More of what you WANT!”

The Veganuary campaign, promoted by a charity of the same name, has already attracted 120,000 people worldwide who have committed to going vegan. The idea was brought about after the success of Dry January, which was a public health campaign, and encouraged patrons to stop drinking alcohol for a month (after Christmas, your liver could probably use the break).

What are your New Year Resolutions? Are you planning on joining the Veganuary bandwagon?
