Uber Set To Test Delivery By Drones

on

With technological advancements on an ever-rising slope, food delivery firms are now getting into the game equipped with the latest of innovations. Uber Eats, world’s largest food-delivery platform is all set to try out delivering their food by means of drones, which they believe, will reduce delivery time to as less as 5 minutes since the time of order.

Domino’s might have been the first to introduce drone delivery to the world but seeing as they could not make it big, and the fact that Uber is much more equipped than Domino’s for something like this makes this venture more promising. For all we know, Uber just might pull this off.

According to Uber’s CEO Dara Khosrowshahi, the drone-delivered orders can be expected within time intervals anywhere from “five minutes from now to 30 minutes from now”. “Uber can’t just be about cars,” added Khosrowshahi. “It’s my personal belief that a key to solving urban mobility is flying burgers, in any city. We need flying burgers.”

He said this at a recent conference in Los Angeles. It is to be noted that the company has already started a new trial program with drones in San Diego.

This new venture of delivery by drones is a part of a commercial testing program called the Integration Pilot Program. This program that was recently approved by the government has given authorization to a whole bunch of tech and established delivery giants like Uber, FedEx, Amazon, etc., to deliver goods by drone in several states in the US.

We can safely say that the future of food delivery is upon us and the success of these trial might very well pave way for it being implemented in other parts of the world as well.
