Trump’s Baker Commissioned To Re-Create Obama’s Inauguration Day Cake

Despite what Donald Trump may say, think, and believe, he does desperately want to be like Obama. And if First Lady Melania Trump’s speeches are anything to go by, she too isn’t thriving to be anything less than a former member of the First Family. Adding to the list of similarities between the Obamas and Trumps is the two world leaders’ inauguration ceremony cakes.

Back in 2013, Former President Barrack Obama celebrated with an opulent nine-tier cake adorned with stars, stripes, badges, the Presidential seal, and the works, created by celebrity baker and Charm City Cakes owner Duff Goldman. In a recent post on Facebook, Goldman pointed out the uncanny similarities between the cake he created in 2013 and the one Donald Trump had made this weekend. Highlighting the alleged pastry plagiarism, Goldman explained “The cake on the left is the one I made for President Obama’s inauguration 4 years ago,” Goldman explained in the caption to the photo. “The one on the right is Trumps. I didn’t make it.”

And indeed, the two cakes look like friggin’ identical twins!

Meanwhile, the bakery commissioned to make Trump’s cake, Washington DC-based bakery Buttercream Bake Shop put out a picture of their version claiming that they had been specifically asked to recreate Goldman’s cake.

“Excited to share the cake we got to make for one of last night’s inaugural balls,” the bakery stated on Instagram. “While we most love creating original designs, when we are asked to replicate someone else’s work we are thrilled when it is a masterpiece like this one. @duff_goldman originally created this for Obama’s inauguration 4 years ago and this years committee commissioned us to re-create it.

“Best part is all the profits are being donated to @humanrightscampaign, one of our favorite charities who we have loved working with over the years,” the bakery continued. “Because basic human rights are something every man, woman and child~ straight, gay or the rainbow in between~ deserve!”

Such recreation, much plagiarism. Wow.
