Trump Grill’s Ratings Are Dropping Like They’re Hot!

on

Businessman and multi-millionaire, oh and also, President-elect Donald Trump may have swept America off its feet, but his restaurant – Trump Grill – has failed to do the same. As it so turns out that the majority on Yelp is not as smitten by the guy as the rest of the United States is, given the Trump Tower restaurants plunging Yelp rating.

The review website has lately been packed with a bunch of negative comments and reviews reflecting their displeasure with the restaurant. The cause of the reviewers’ “displeasure” is usually the food, drink, and service even. Although the timing of this negative up rise matches impeccably with Trump Grill’s scathing review published in Vanity Fair magazine this week.

And we won’t be surprised if the review on VF really is the root cause, because here’s what they wrote in their review titled ‘Trump Grill Could Be The Worst Restaurant In America’: The allure of Trump’s restaurant, like the candidate, is that it seems like a cheap version of rich. The inconsistent menus—literally, my menu was missing dishes that I found on my dining partners’—were chock-full of steakhouse classics doused with unnecessarily high-end ingredients.

Ouch.

The author, Tina Nguyen, went on to comment on the food, saying, “the dumplings, for instance, come with soy sauce topped with truffle oil, and the crostini is served with both hummus and ricotta, two exotic ingredients that should still never be combined. The menu itself would like to impress diners with how important it is, randomly capitalizing fancy words like “Prosciutto” and “Julienned” (and, strangely, ”House Salad”)”.

More ouch. And cold water. Here’s what the owner – a.k.a. Mr. President-elect –had to say.

And here’s what a few of the Yelpers yelped out instead.

“So glad Vanity Fair said what me and my whole family wanted to say and we should have posted this review 3 months ago. My wife and mother both got terrible cramps right after eating the taco bowl and the steak and green beans looked like food from a run down cafeteria.”

“Aweful food, worst of the worst. Trust me, Im a smart person. I know taco bowls and this one was definetly awful. The 5 star critic reviews? Sore losers, idiots who don’t know good food. I know becuase Im like a smart person who doesnt need to read the same review like every day.” *Grammar sensibilities die inside*

Also, here’s what a Yelpers yelped about his fellow Yelpers.

“This is not a review of the Restaurant, I did not eat there. This is a review of the reviewers! With very few exceptions, the restaurant got 1 star or 5 stars. That is impossible with honest reviewers unless the restaurant has an impossibly bad split personality! All I can think of is that people went in with a preconceived idea and found something that supported it, or changed it, and they went to the extreme to comment on the restaurant. Trump is extreme, but when commenting on him, or his ‘businesses’ please don’t take on Trump’s extreme behavior; be level and just. That will give more weight to your opinion.”

Basically, Yelp and Vanity Fair have managed to plunge Trump Grills customer ratings (from two to four) down the Trump Tower. Meanwhile, Yelp’s support team is currently conducting an “active cleanup,” in which it monitors the Trump Grill profile and removes any reviews that it determines are not actually related to the restaurant. Yelp says this is standard operating procedure when any business has “made waves in the news.”
