Tollywood Superstar Chiranjeevi Gets An Awesome Birthday Present From His Son  

At his 60^th birthday party, on August 22^nd, Tollywood superstar and politician Chiranjeevi served his guests a lavish spread, including his favourite dosa. That in itself is not unusual. What made it unusual was that Chiranjeevi’s son announced that he has applied for a patent for the dosa, which will be called the ‘Chiru dosa’.

The Mythical Dosa

The dosa, which is now legendary, can be traced back to a meal the star had at a small dhaba while shooting in Mysore. He was taken by the dosas which were extremely fluffy and asked the dhaba owner to give him the recipe. However, he was unable to get it.

“The family who ran the dhaba said ‘Sir it’s our secret recipe. You give us a box and we will fill it up with dosas, but we cannot share our recipe,’” said Chiranjeevi’s son Ram Charan in an interview with the Bombay Times.

Chiranjeevi then called his home chef to Mysore, asked him to taste the dosa. Once home, all the members of the Chiranjeevi family tried to replicate the recipe, but were unable to. However, they finally arrived at their own dosa recipe, which is extremely fluffy and uses zero oil.

A Celebrity Following

Because of the fact that it uses no oil, and because of its taste, the ‘Chiru’ dosa has garnered a huge celebrity fan following. Celebrities such as Rajinikanth, Sachin Tendulkar and Richard Gere have all tasted and loved the dosa.

Following the patent, the dosa will hopefully become available to the hoi polloi. Charan hopes to start a food truck that will travel through Andhra Pradesh and Telangana that will sell the dosa at a low price.

Considering its status, we may just have to book a flight to Hyderabad soon!
