This Actor Went On An Extreme Diet, Consuming Just 350 Calories A Day

Crash diets, though supremely unhealthy, are not unheard of. Consuming less than 1500 or even 1000 calories in a day can give you desired results even though the move may be unhealthy in the long run. But how about a 350 calories a day diet? That amount is less than what most of us consume in a single meal! But one actress took on the deadly diet for her upcoming movie and confesses that “it was f***ing miserable.”

The actress is none other than Fault In Our Stars’ leading gal, Shailene Woodley, who went on the diet to prep for her latest release, Adrift. The movie is based on a real-life incident about a couple who were stranded in the middle of the ocean after a hurricane wrecked their boat during the couple’s sail from Tahiti to San Diego.

Woodley is playing the role of Tami Oldham along with Sam Claflin, who is portraying her fiancé Richard Sharp. To look the part of a woman who has been stranded out in the middle of nowhere for weeks with the only foods like spam and peanut butter, Woodley went on an extreme diet that consisted of just 350 calories. So what did she eat?

“For the last two weeks I had a can of salmon, some steamed broccoli and two egg yolks every day — 350 calories,” the 26-year-old said in an interview for The Times. “It was f—— miserable”, she added. But how did this diet affect her, apart from peeling off a major chunk of weight and fat? Woodley revealed that the regime took a toll on her sleeping pattern, as she cannot fall asleep when she’s hungry. “I can’t sleep when I’m hungry so I would have a glass of wine to basically pass the f— out,” she said.
