The Ultimate Guide To The Best Places To Eat Around CST Station In Mumbai

on

The Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, previously known as the Vitoria Terminus in Mumbai is one of the city’s most prominent heritage landmarks. Built in 1953 by the British, CST Station is now one of India’s busiest stations, hosting hundreds of thousands of commuters each day.

The CST area is also the home to a large court, a few offices, St Xavier’s College and Crawford Market; a sprawling space that has a multitude of shops. If you find yourself at or near CST for work or pleasure, here’s where you must eat!

Street Food

Cannon

Cannon Pav Bhaji, just opposite CST station is famous across Mumbai (and the world) for its delicious, buttery pav bhaji. A sandwich seller in the lane outside St Xavier’s College sells a variety of cheap, eclectic sandwiches (try the Mysore Masala and the Maggi sandwich). Post 8pm at night, a woman selling great non vegetarian Chinese food sets up shop right outside the college.

Vegetarian Dining

Baddhah

Badshah, next to Crawford Market is a legendary destination for faloodas, which also serves great dosas. Vithal’s Family Restaurant and Bar used to be a street stall that morphed into a small eatery thanks to its legendary chaat. Bachelorr’s, another street stall turned eatery can also be found at CST, near the Sterling Theatre.

Non-Vegetarian Dining

Kyani

Two lanes across Metro Cinema, you’ll be able to find Kyani & Co, a famous Irani eatery that serves delicious mutton samosas, chicken farcha and fish fingers. We also love Snowflakes, which serves cheap Goan meals like pork sorpotel, pork vindaloo and a mean steak. Jaffer Bhai’s Delhi Darbar, near Marine Lines is known for its North Indian non veg like butter chicken and dabba gosht.

Fine Dining

Silver

The CST area in Mumbai doesn’t have too many fine dining options, but you can try Silver Beach Cafe (read our review here) for some healthy, delicious Continental fare. If you’re willing to walk a few steps to Fort, Khyber is another great fine dining option that serves North Indian dishes and exudes a Mughlai charm.

Just Desserts

Falooda

We’ve already mentioned that you absolutely must try Badshah’s faloodas, which can be had as desserts. We’ve also talked about Bachelorr’s which is known for its delicious ice creams. To that list, add the Zero Degree Ice Cream Parlour, which has fresh, seasonal ice creams and Monginis, known for its cakes.

If you do find yourself in the CST area, try to sneak into the St Xavier’s College canteen, which has a variety of counters selling chaat, Chinese food, dosas, Maggi, juices and milkshakes and desserts all at massively pocket friendly prices.

If you can’t swing that, try to visit all these other eateries; you can thank us later.
