We’re all familiar with the ‘Amul Girl’; the iconic cartoon character in a red and white spotted dress and high ponytail. She’s the star in Amul’s innovative topical ads and has become automatically associated with the major dairy brand.
While the Amul girl visits homes in advertisements in newspapers and on the internet, the Amul company officials are debating whether to create a range of merchandise inspired by her.
“We will consider to come up with merchandise based around Amul butter girl. We will take a final decision on this in next 2-3 months,” Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) Managing Director R S Sodhi said. He went on to suggest that she can be featured on key rings, cups and frocks.
“Amul girl has commented on everyone. Nobody has displayed anger. Amul girl is like daughter. We know what she is saying is correct,” Sodhi said.
Sodhi added that the merchandise can be sold at Amul’s milk parlours across India.
