Take In The Skyline At This New Rooftop Resto-Bar in Chennai

on

It might only be the sixth month of the year, but summer has been taking over the city of Chennai, one day at a time. Some days it’s hotter than others, but by the time the evening rolls around, the city starts to cool down and it’s time for the rooftops restaurants to open! One such rooftop spot is Skyline, at Hotel Sangam in T. Nagar.

Tucked away in a busy lane opposite the T. Nagar bus terminus, this four-storied hotel has a great rooftop spot that makes you completely forget you’re in one of the busiest parts of the city. Even though the rooftop resto-bar isn’t that high up, you still feel like you’re somewhere else. You’re instantly transported to a different part of the city, with the sounds of the traffic completely gone and for a moment you almost feel like you’re not in the city of Chennai.

When we visited the restaurant on a busy weekday evening, we were expecting lots of traffic sounds and smells from everywhere. But were pleasantly surprised by the peaceful setting and the only sounds were coming from the large projector television playing a movie. IPL might be over, but other sporting events are still happening, so if you need an evening with your friends and a large screen showing off your favourite sport, Skyline is where you can go.

While the restaurant has a full bar and lots to choose from, we settled for mocktails in bright colours. The red one is called Cinderella which is a combination of Pineapple, Orange, Lemonade, Grenadine and club soda. While the blue one is known as Blue Skyline, which has Sprite, Blue Caracao, Litchi Juice and Lime juice. They’re both cold, sweet and absolutely perfect for this weather and a really nice way to start your relaxation for the evening.

The coriander and the lemon added to the chicken gives it a zesty flavour, but it’s also got a kick of spice, making it a great combination with your drinks while you’re watching a match.

Forget chicken wings or chicken lollipops, Pepper Chicken Legs are the way to do it. Two big pieces of chicken leg covered in pepper sauce leaving your tongue tingling is exactly what you’re not expecting. Eat it hot and wash it down with a cold glass of beer!

For those who eat everything under the sun, this Chettinad Fish preparation is perfect. If you like spicy food, this will tickle your senses and make you want to eat it all. Even if you’re not a big fan of seafood, this is a must try!

Fret not, vegetarians, we’ve also got something for you. Paruval Paneer is the go-to dish for all vegetarians in most places and when made into little sandwiches that you can just pop into your mouth, it’s even better. Deep fried with paneer slices in the middle, this might have just been our favourite dish for the evening.
