Taco Bell Is Expanding To 12 More Cities In The Next Four Years

on

Taco Bell, known for their Mexican food, is owned by US-based Yum! Restaurants and they’re on their way to expanding into the Indian market with plans to open outlets in at least 12 cities in the next four years.

The company has partnered with Burman Hospitality, who has already taken the franchise for the north of India and some southern markets like Karnataka and Telangana. “Our initial focus will be the top metros and their neighbouring cities. We are already present in Delhi, Bangalore and Mumbai. These three are important markets,” Ankush Tuli, Taco Bell India Managing Director has said.

They now have plans to expand into cities like Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Chennai, Pune and Ahmedabad, with multiple outlets in bigger cities. Mr. Tuli added, “In a place like Chandigarh, we would like to have 2 to 3 stores. Places like Bangalore could take 10 to 15 stores.”

Along with the expansion, Taco Bell India is also tweaking and reworking their menu to add in some local flavours to suit the Indian palate. They have a Tikka Masala Burrito on the menu already and Mr. Tuli said that, “We are among the few global markets of Taco Bell which has an R&D facility. The entire vegetarian range is made for India as we do not have vegetarian outside much of India. By the end of this year, our 100 per cent sourcing would be local both in terms of food and equipment.”
