Swasth Bharat Yatra Concludes With Punjab Being The Best Performing State

The Swasth Bharat Yatra, a cyclothon across India concluded yesterday in Delhi with Punjab emerging as the best performing state. According to a report by UNI, Brahm Mohindra, the health and family minister of Punjab himself declared the news about the state being the best amongst smaller state. He also said that Amritsar and Batala were chosen as the best cities during the event. The cyclothon had been organised by Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).

Cyclothon Comes To An End

According to a report by the Times of India, Minister of State for Health Ashwini Kumar Choubey gave people advice on reducing the addition of salt, sugar and cooking oils in the food. The idea behind this event was to create an awareness on healthy eating across the country. Pawan Kumar Agarwal, the CEO of FSSAI expressed that this initiative was the first step in creating awareness about safe and nutritious food. “The campaign has re-energised the food safety departments at states level,” he said.

“The goal of this campaign (cyclothon) was achieved through engagement activities and events in more than 2,100 location along the Yatra and the creation of over 21,000 local, community ‘Eat Right Champions’ who would sustain this movement in the future,” said a statement by the FSSAI.
