Begun on Thursday, the Tasting India Symposium is being held for the third time and this year, the focus was on sustainable consumption and production. The discussions laid emphasis on food wastage at every processing level. The symposium is going to go on till tomorrow and its theme is to ‘Eat Right’ and thus the focus on sustainability.

Eat Right India

“Our mission is to make India a leading food destination. But for us to do that, we have to adopt a culture of sustainability. We must also talk about zero hunger and discuss the situation of our farmers, and how can we make our consumption right,” said Sanjoo Malhotra, co-founder of the symposium to Financial Express. “I’d recently visited the Dhantewada district of Chhattisgarh and I was amazed to see that all the farmers there were practising organic farming. They had all collectively raised their voice against fertilisers,” said Amitabh Kant, chief executive officer of government think tank NITI Aayog during his address on Friday according to the publication.

Speaking of the session held by VIVAMAYR in Mumbai Malhotra said, “Dr. Harald Stossier’s call to go back to the basics of common-sense nutrition, as opposed to momentary fads or fashionable theories, is in sync with the ‘Eat Right’ philosophy of the Tasting India Symposium. We believe that the Symposium wouldn’t have been complete without revisiting the traditional nutrition model with Dr Stossier.”
