Sixteen years after entering India, Subway, a quick service restaurant chain famous for its customisable submarine sandwiches has opened its 600th outlet in the country. The new outlet is operating under the franchise model in Bharuch, Gujarat.

Celebrating the New Outlet

Commenting on the 600th Subway outlet, Ranjit Talwar, the Country Head of Subway Systems India said “This is a proud achievement for team SUBWAY India. It shows our guests’ love for the brand as they choose to eat fresh with SUBWAY. Credit also goes to all our franchisees who play a major role as the brand’s growth drivers in the country. We aim to accelerate our development plans by expanding in both metro and non-metro locations while maintaining consistency in the quality of our service and products.”

The new outlet is off the National Highway 8 out of Bharuch city, at a travel distance from Bharuch City and the Surat railway station. It has been established under the franchise model; Subway has no company-owned outlets in India but instead give franchises operational manuals, training programmes as well as backend support.

Hareshwar Koralkar, the franchise-owner of the new Subway restaurant said “It is a great feeling. Setting up this restaurant has been a huge learning experience involving a lot of hard work, challenges and triumphs. However, SUBWAY’s support on all aspects of business including training, has made the entire effort worth it. I aspire towards making this restaurant the number one eating-out destination in the region.”
