Known for his upbeat self and bubbly presence on stage, television actor and host Rithvik Dhanjani frequents the Capital mostly for work. However, in a recent interview the star revealed that if given an option, he would love to acquaint himself to the food streets and high-street pub culture of Delhi and Gurgaon as well.
Food Vans & Pubs Culture
“I love Delhi’s food. I love all the food you get on the roadside. Karan Wahi specifically asked me to go to this place near the Parliament”, he said, adding “Wahan sirf Rajesh Khanna ke gaane chalte hain, aur ek side pe families hoti hain aur ek side pe bachelors hote hain (The place plays only Rajesh Khanna songs and on one side all the families sit while the other side is occupied by bachelors). If you want to drink, you sit with the singles; if you want to eat, you sit with the families. Bas gaadiyon mein hi khana kha sakte ho (you can eat only in your car). I definitely want to visit this place” Dhanjani was quoted as saying.
Though we don’t know for sure, but the place Rithvik describes sounds like a popular food van called ‘The Treat’, a.k.a. ‘Rajesh Khanna food van’, which stands behind Jesus & Mary College in Chanakyapuri. Fun Fact: the van was set up by superstar Rajesh Khanna and his fan Vipin Kumar Oberoi. The van is known for serving up dishes that were handpicked by Kaka and were his favorites. No wonder Karan Wahi suggested the place!
But it’s not just the heart of Delhi that appeals to Dhanjani, he’s also drawn towards the high-spirited (quite literally) life and the “pub culture” of Gurgaon. I want to explore that [pub culture in Gurgaon]. I have stayed in Gurgaon once, but I haven’t explored that place, so I would love to do that,” the Pavitra Rishta actor said.
