Starbucks’ Latest Drink Comes With Beef Jerky, Would You Dare? #POLL

on

Over the past few months, seasons, and holidays, Starbucks has left no source of inspiration untouched when it comes to concocting new beverages. From popular desserts and food trends to seasonal flavours, the coffee giant’s menu has seen it all. But the one thing that even Starbucks hasn’t tried is a savoury beverage. Until now.

That’s right, Starbucks’ latest Roastery-exclusive caffeinated beverage draws inspiration from something savoury rather than sweet. Behold, the Pepper Nitro, which comes with a meaty Jerky Twist (yes, the beef jerky).

So, how is this savoury beverage brewed? The Pepper Nitro is made with a cold brewed Eastern D.R. Congo Lake Kivu coffee, which is then infused with malted fennel black pepper syrup, giving it hints of both sweet and savory. When serving, the drink is poured from a tap into a glass and topped with a layer of cold honey foam. And on top of that is added the show-stopping ingredient – a piece of beef jerky propped atop a sprinkle of cracked pink peppercorn.

Quite an aesthetic stack-up, may we add.

Raegan Powell, a member of Starbucks’ R&D team who helped create the decidedly outside-the-box beverage, was quoted by Refinery29; “With the first sip, you get a hint of the honey cold foam and the aroma of the pink ground peppercorn. The real surprise is the salty savouriness of the jerky garnish, an exciting complement to the smooth and sweet finish of the nitro cold brew experience.”

However, there is a slight geographical barrier. The special beefy drink will be sold only at the Seattle Reserve Roastery. So, Seattle has yet another reason to be sleepless this season!

But given a chance, would you dare to indulge in this new Starbucks creation? Vote below and let us know!
