Starbucks India Appoints Navin Gurnaney As The New CEO

The popular coffee chain Starbucks India has appointed Navin Gurnaney as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and he will take over on 1st January, 2019 reports the Economic Times. The current CEO, Sumitro Ghosh will be returning to the United States to join back the parent company after heading the chain in India for three years.

New Role New Strategy

The company statement says that Navin Gurnaney will be responsible for Starbucks India’s overall strategic direction and vision in the country as well as to strengthen the growth of its business. “We are pleased to welcome Navin Gurnaney, who has a proven track record of success within Starbucks and is a business leader with the ability to bring people together, as Tata Starbucks continues to innovate and position itself for long-term growth in the India market.” John Culver, group president, International, Channel Development and Global Coffee & Tea at Starbucks Coffee Company said in a statement reports the Economic Times.

Gurnaney is returning to Starbucks after first joining in 2004 as the leader in the company’s US business for eight years. He worked for Starbucks’ operations and partner resources in Atlanta. In India, the coffee chain that started back in 2012 has seen the fastest growth and store expansion in its history of 45 years. Starbucks has 125 stores in India currently.
