Starbucks goes Healthy with Kale Smoothies and Yogurt Parfaits

on

They were a few years late, but Starbucks is at last hopping on the verdant green fleeting trend and will be debuting kale smoothies. The espresso goliath just declared an association with Dannon to put Evolution Fresh housemade yogurt smoothies and parfaits on the menu. Every smoothie will have a non-fat Greek yogurt base with added fresh foods grown from the ground, and clients can include kale or protein powder in the event that they need it. The three smoothie flavors are Sweet Greens, Mango Carrot, and Strawberry, each of them containing 20 percent or more of your recommended daily fruits and vegetables.

“I couldn’t be more excited about what these smoothies offer the Starbucks customer,” said Jeff Hansberry, president of Evolution Fresh, in a statement. “We created a nutritious smoothie with our cold-pressed fruit and juice blends, combined with the delicious, creamy Greek yogurt we developed with Dannon. They are free from artificial sweeteners or fillers, just a unique, wholesome, snack or beverage.”

Each 16-ounce smoothie costs $5.95, and contains between 170 and 230 calories. The parfaits will debut this May, and will be introduced to about half of Starbucks locations nationwide.
