How Spicy Can World’s Spiciest Ramen Be? Deathly.

on

No no, don’t worry no one died. Unless you call ‘sweating through every possible pore in your body and loosing all hearing, tasting and cerebral capability for a few minutes’ staying alive.

Recently we saw a very adventurous gentleman dive into a tub full of hot sauce, and that’s probably what gave YouTuber Awesome Eats the idea to scorch some of his organs too. He along with two more friends headed over Jakarta-based restaurant, Abang Adek, to try the world’s spiciest Indomie noodle. Made with hundred bird’s eye chilies (not kidding), the ramen made the tub of hot sauce look like a trip to Disneyland!

To give you some perspective, pure capsaicin – the active component that gives chilies the spice – scores 15,000,000 on the Scoville Chart; the world’s spiciest chili pepper, Naga Jholokia follows second with 855,000 – 1,041,427; and the Bird’s Eye chili comes fifth with a score of 100,000 – 225,000. And that’s one chili, by the way, The ramen has a hundred of them!

The restaurant, which is known for its spicy bird’s eye chili-infused ramen, has five different spice levels. The spiciest is termed “Mampus”, which literally translates to “Death”. Despite all the anxiety and warnings from the Universe (and restaurant), a little hesitant – but driven – Awesome Eats dove tongue-first into the plate of Mampus. Something he regretted within seconds.

His partner-in-crime immediately gave up after the first bite but not our hero. No sir! He ate till he sweat. He ate till his shirt came off and till the point he stopped feeling anything and cold liquids weren’t enough to put out the fire on his palate.

But no, no one died. Probably because no one made it through the entire portion of the ‘Death’ ramen. Meanwhile, the parrot fraternity is out looking for Abang Adek.
