Spice Up Your Weekend Dinners In March With A Koli Pop In South Mumbai

If you’ve travelled by Mumbai local trains in the mornings, the sight of the fishermen and fisherwomen carrying baskets of fresh seafood wouldn’t be an unfamiliar sight for you. The Koli community in the city is not just a hardworking one but full of talent too. One such talent depicts in their scrumptious, unmatched cuisine. For those of you who never had the chance to experience it, do it now as Bombay Vintage does a Koli food pop-up in association with Authenticook. The special menu for this will be available for dinners between Friday to Sunday on the first two weekend of March. So hurry!

What’s Cooking

At this smashing pop-up by Bombay Vintage, you’ll get to savour some delish bites like Karandi Bhaji – small prawn fritters, Rice Crusted Bombil Fry, Mori (Shark) Fry, chunks of baby shark dipped in a spicy batter and fried. After trying out the crispy, crunchy snacks, do try out the scrumptious mains. These include Pankanchi, a broth like pomfret curry which is made using kokum, Tisrya (Clams) Masala,clams made Koli style, Crab Rassa – made using freshly grated coconut and Koli masala and Kolumbi Cha Ambata a tangy fresh prawns gravy cooked Koli style.

Go completely traditional and order up some bhakri, bhaat and sol kadi to go with the delicious food. End your meal with a smile on your face as you bite into Bharleli Keli – a mixture of coconut and jaggery stuffed in bananas then fried in ghee.
