Train travel just got a whole lot cooler! After the news that you could order food from Domino’s, KFC etc. the Indian Railways is taking it to the next level! They are now offering vending machines that will dispense ready to eat food right on the train!
According to Economic Times, vending machines are going to be installed which will dispense ready-to-eat food to its customers 24/7. The service is likely to start with the debut of Utkrisht Double-Decker AC Yatri (Uday) Express which aims to connect metropolitan centres.
The vending machine will help customers choose products of their choice at maximum retail price. It will have two payment options- cash and card. So, that does put an end to getting looted by food vendors, and also eliminates the need for face to face interaction (from a socially anxious person, that’s a win).
According to officials, the vending machine will be installed in every third coach of a train. Besides ready-to-eat food, the machine will also dispense some other eatables. It will give a brief description of the meal selected along with its price on the screen. Lucky for us, the machine will dispense both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. Is it soon going to be bye-bye for aeroplanes and hello to trains?
