Sip On A Luscious Cosmo At The Daily On World Cosmopolitan Day

on

Lovers of cosmopolitan, sip on your favourite concoction as The Daily Bar and Kitchen celebrates World Cosmopolitan Day on 7th May. Though a classic cosmo is made using vodka, triple sec, cranberry and lime juice, the eatery has added its own special touches to make this drink amiable to even the first timers.

A Brief History Of Cosmopolitan

The Harpoon, was a drink shaken up by a brand called ‘Ocean Spray’ in 1968 according to Days Of The Year but unlike the cosmo today, this one lacked triple sec. The idea of the brand was to promote cranberry juice. Cosmopolitan, according to Vine Pair, can be traced back all the way to the 19th century but it gained interest amongst the masses when Madonna was seen drinking it and of course a rage for it was created with the popular show Sex and the City.

Cosmo At The Daily

The specialty cosmo at The Daily is made up of the classic ingredients like vodka, cranberry juice and a hint of lime. It’s finished with a squeeze from orange zest giving it a citrusy flavour and can be made strong or tame depending on how you like it. “It’s so refreshing, you just might never drink a different cocktail again,” says Rohit Hegde, the head mixologist at The Daily Bar & Kitchen. “I have been messing with this recipe for years. Sure there are the classic ingredients when it comes to a cosmo, but when it comes to making cocktails, it’s all about the execution and the details. Little things matter. Even though it’s girly pink, it has a decent amount of alcohol that everybody would love even the first timers.”

When asked about how he likes to play around with the cosmopolitan he said, “Some replace the Roses with 1/2 ounce fresh lime juice and 1/2 ounce simple syrup, but there’s no real need to over-complicate things here. I try to keep it simple yet classy.” Well, there you have it, the story of cosmopolitan and one of the best places in Mumbai to try. So head to The Daily on 7th May to sip on this classy concoction!
