Samir Kuckreja, the former CEO of Nirula’s Corner House and Mars Hotels & Restaurants, will be joining Zomato’s top management, heading the cloud-based point of sale product, Zomato Base, as the president.
Launched last year, Zomato Base is an Android-based point of sale system that offers restaurants features including menu, recipe, inventory, management, a built-in payment solution that accepts debit and credit card payments, CRM and real-time analytics.
A spokesperson for Zomato commented on Kuckreja’s joining, “Prior to joining Zomato, full-time this month, Samir has worked with us in the capacity of a consultant and already understands the business fairly well. We are excited to have him on board and look forward to learning from and leveraging his unique experience in helping develop the restaurant industry ecosystem in India.”
Kuckreja was the joint MD for Mars Hotels & Restaurants before he became the MD and CEO of Nirula’s till 2012, after which he started Tasanya Hospitality and served as the president of the National Restaurant Association of India till 2015.
Last November, it was reported that Zomato was in talks for investments for their food delivery service as well as setting up cloud kitchens. The food tech company is also on the look out for fresh funding, since their $60 million investment in September 2015.
