They say that two are better than one, and it certainly holds up in the curious case of the duo of Chefs named Roberto at Bene. Chef Roberto Zorzoli, Head Chef at Romano at JW Marriott Mumbai Sahar has teamed up with Bene’s Chef de Cuisine, Roberto Apa for an Italian extravaganza quite unlike any other.
Striving to produce an authentic Italian feast for culinary connoisseurs, the Robertos have curated an amazing menu that brings to life the Italian ethos of utilising local produce! Both chefs were on hand to teach us a few classic Italian dishes. We thoroughly enjoyed rolling and cutting the pasta for the Tagliolini Puttanesca, and the Parmigiana di Melanzana created by Chef Roberto Apa blew us away – who knew that aubergine, tomato, and cheese could taste that good?
We also absolutely loved the arancini, gorgeously crisp and light it was accompanied by a lovely green salad with tomato and mushroom – the perfect combination. The Carpaccio Di Bababietola, essentially beetroot carpaccio, was also a hit with its curiously complex flavors and precision plating.
Moving onto the mains, don’t sleep on the Maltagliati Verdi Alla Faraona (House Made Pasta Slow Cooked Guinea Fowl, Porcini, Creamy Truffle Sauce), or the Chicche Saracene Agli Asparagi, a gnocchi delight that is as simple as it is delicious. For dessert try the Torta Paesana, or keep it basic with Bene’s famous Tiramisu.
