Retracing The Stories and Legends of 100 Pipers – #BeRememberedforGood

Legend has it that in 1745, a hundred pipers led the Scottish legendary hero, Bonnie Prince Charlie into battle. The melodious music evoked courage in the army and fear into the hearts of the enemy. This Scottish legend is the inspiration behind the scotch whiskey 100 Pipers, instilling in you courage and strength with each sip. Even the legend says that when you take a sip of really good scotch, you can hear a piper play.

The story goes that a master blender was working in the Glen to find the perfect combination to boost each sip to hear ten pipers. He spent a long time perfecting the blend and finally took a sip. His search for the ten pipers was met, but it went beyond that. The master blender was able to hear a hundred pipers playing in his Glen. Each sip evokes the music that built courage in the hearts of the Scottish army, allowing everybody who takes a sip to experience what the master blender did on that fated day.

After the war, Seagram went to Scotland to find the perfect blend of whiskies. For those that know whiskey, most scotches are noted for the smoothness of their malts and highness of their grain whiskies and some for the mellow flavour derived from the casks they’re stored in. That’s what prompted Seagram to find the perfect combination that would produce 100 Pipers.

With all of Scotland to explore, they could find the best whiskies from all over the country including the rich Islay whiskies, smooth whiskies from Falkirk and Campbeltown, the mellow Keith whisky and of course the fragile whiskey of Speyside. With 50 whiskies to use and blend, Seagram tried them in 517 blends, but it was the final blend that used 30 different whiskies and became Seagram’s 100 Pipers.

It took them more than 20 years and 530 different combinations to finally settle on that perfect blend that they could produce the sound of a hundred pipers with each sip.

The final product that you get at your local pub has a woody and fruity flavour with a touch of peat oak fragrance in medium intensity that creates an aromatic sweetness.
