‘Waitress’ I Hate My Husband Pie Recipe

on

“You make it with bittersweet chocolate and don’t sweeten it. You make it into a pudding and drown it in caramel …”

Jenna, the Waitress protagonist, is making up this recipe in her head, half trying to tune out her annoying husband when he breaks her train of pie thoughts to point out how she never pays attention to what he has to say, eventually making her apologize. No prizes for guessing the reason for the pie’s name.

Instructions
  1. For the crust, mix all ingredients with your fingertips. When the dough is mixed, wrap in plastic wrap and let set in refrigerator for 30 minutes.
  2. To make the chocolate cream, bring the cream, condensed milk and cocoa powder to a boil until the mixture thickens (about 10 minutes). Set aside.
  3. Combine sugar and water to make the caramel sauce. Mix well and cook until sugar dissolves. Cook for about 10 minutes. Add the cream and cook for 2 minutes or until sauce is smooth.
  4. Pour the chocolate cream into the pie dough.
  5. Bake on low heat for 15 minutes.
  6. Remove from oven and add the caramel sauce.
  7. Serve.
