Instructions
  1. Take water in a big vessel and mix oil to it.
  2. Bring to a boil and then turn off the flame.
  3. In a mixing bowl mix the flour and salt together.
  4. Add about three quarters of the hot water to the mix and stir well.
  5. Keep adding water and stirring till you get a dough-like consistency.
  6. Now knead the dough with hands for about a minute or so and then put it into the iddiyappam press.
  7. After running through the press, put the long strings into the steamer and steam for about 5 minutes.
  8. Once the iddiyappam is cooked through, enjoy it with chutney or stew.
