  1. Roast the rava with a few drops of ghee, till is the color starts changing.
  2. In a pan put the oil, then add the mustard seeds, urad dal and chana dhal. Fry till it becomes slightly brown color.
  3. Add the chilies, onion and curry leaves and fry.
  4. To the coconut add the water and just give a slight squeeze so that the water comes out. Add this coconut water to the pan.
  5. Add salt as per taste.
  6. Allow it to boil, then reduce the flame to simmer.
  7. Quickly add rava with constant stirring.
  8. Add ghee and close the pan tightly.
  9. Keep the stove on low heat for around 5 to 6 minutes till all the water is absorbed and the rava is cooked.
  10. Serve with coconut chutney or yogurt.
Recipe Notes

Keep stirring the ingredients continuously to avoid over-roasting your upma. For best results, maintain a medium flame throughout.
