The Polar Express Hot Chocolate Recipe

Christmas is almost upon us and we thought we’d celebrate by watching one of our all-time favourite winter movies; The Polar Express. And, our favourite thing to have while we watch the fun animated movie is hot chocolate.

Indeed, the hot chocolate on The Polar Express is so good that there’s an entire song dedicated to it. We use this recipe to whip up our own hot chocolate; have it as a comforting movie snack or a night cap before bedtime.

Ingredients

• 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
• 3/4 cup white sugar
• 1 punch salt
• 1/3 cup boiling water
• 3 1/2 cups Milk
• 3/4 tsp vanilla
• 1/2 cup half and half

Instructions

1. Sift the cocoa powder, sugar and salt together.
2. Add the boiling water and set the mixture atop a stove.
3. Once the mixture boils, simmer for two minutes, stirring constantly.
4. Add the milk.
5. Remove from the heat and add the vanilla.
6. Divide between four mugs.
7. Top with the cream and serve.
