Nawabi Veg Biryani Recipe
A delicious & simple to make biryani with fresh veggies & traditional spices. Best served with raita, papad and your favorite choice of pickle.
2 cups Basmati Rice
Potatoes boiled, peeled, diced
2 tsp Cumin Seeds
1 cup Green Peas shelled Onions – 4, sliced
3 tblsp Ghee
For the Masala:
1 cup mint leaves
5-6 Green Chillies
1 tsp Garam Masala Powder
2 inch piece Ginger
4 cloves Garlic
1/2 cup coconut milk
2 tblsp Oil
Soak the basmati rice in 4 cups of water for 30 to 45 minutes.
Heat ghee in a pan over medium flame.
Saute the onions, potatoes, cumin seeds and green peas for 2 to 3 minutes.
Grind all the masala ingredients with a little water to a smooth paste.
Add this to the pan and stir well.
Simmer for a minute.
Drain the water from rice and add to the pan.
Cook for 3 to 5 minutes and pour 4 cups of water.
Cover with a lid and simmer for 30 to 45 minutes or until rice is cooked.
Serve hot with raita.
