Gilmore Girls Garlic Naan Recipe

on

While Gilmore Girls binged on coffee, hamburgers and fries like a true American fast food lover would, Rory had a special liking for Indian food. When her mother is out she orders her favourites from Sandeep’s after she would have to burn the house down of course! Though naans aren’t exactly Indian going by the origin but are sure used in plenty of restaurants. However, making these naans is not a tough job at home and here’s how to do it!

Instructions
  1. Add the sugar and yeast to the lukewarm and stir.
  2. Leave it aside for about 10 minutes and it will start foaming.
  3. When it foams, add the lukewarm milk, wheat flour, garlic paste, 1 cup all purpose flour (add more while making the dough if needed), oil and salt.
  4. Mix till well combined and form it into a dough, kneading with your hands.
  5. Once the dough is ready, grease the bowl and dough with a little oil.
  6. Cover the bowl with a cloth and let it rise for an hour or two in a warm place.
  7. After two hours, the dough will rise.
  8. Give it a couple of punches and divide into 10 equal portions.
  9. Now melt some butter and add garlic to it.
  10. Heat the tava and start rolling each dough portion into a flat shape.
  11. Sprinkle some nigella seeds on this and give it another roll with the rolling pin.
  12. Cook both sides of the naan on the tava which should take about 1-2 minutes per side.
  13. Once cooked brush the garlic butter on top and garnish with coriander.
  14. Serve hot.
