Fourth of July Punch Recipe

The Fourth of July or the Independence Day of the United States is just around the corner and the internet is filling up with celebration, food, game, story and party ideas to make the most of the day and display patriotism.

Families across the US take advantage of the holiday to gather together and enjoy a meal and some quality bonding time. On the Fourth of July, barbecues are especially popular thanks to it also being the height of summer.

In a tribute to American independence, we thought we’d whip up some patriotic recipes – one of the chief requirements being that the food has the red, white and blue colours of the American flag. Allow us to introduce you, therefore, to our very own Fourth of July punch recipe; we guarantee this punch will be a massive hit at any party you throw, or simply at your family dining table on the festive day.

Instructions
  1. Combine the strawberries with the lemonade and pour the mixture into an ice cube tray.
  2. Freeze.
  3. Repeat the same process with the blueberries and ginger ale.
  4. Place the water in a fridge until chilled and then pour the granulated sugar into it.
  5. Freeze immediately, so that the sugar does not dissolve into the water.
  6. Remove the strawberry lemonade ice and, using the back of a rolling pin gently crush to create crushed ice.
  7. Place back in the freezer.
  8. Do the same with the blueberry ginger ale and the sugar water, storing in separate containers.
  9. When you're ready to serve the punch, layer a clear punch bowl with the strawberry lemonade ice, followed by the sugar water, followed by the blueberry ginger ale.
  10. Serve the punch immediately, using a deep spoon to place in individual glasses.
  11. Allow the ice to melt together, stir with a straw and enjoy!
