[Exclusive] Batlivala and Khanabhoy’s Patrani Machchi Recipe

Patrani machchi is a Parsi steamed fish preparation. Fish coated in a coconut chutney mixture, wrapped in a banana leaf and steamed. 
  1. Grate the coconut and make a chutney using all the chutney ingredients
  2. Marinate the seer fish fillets with turmeric, red chilly powder, lemon juice and salt
  3. Wash the banana leaves and heat it on the stove to make the leaves soft to avoid tearing when the fish is wrapped
  1. Place some chutney on the leaf and spread it. Now place the a piece of fish fillet on that and cover the fish with the green chutney
  2. Wrap the banana leaves on four corners and tie it with the banana threads
  3. Place a steamer on the stove and allow the temperature to reach 100 degree Celsius
  4. Place the wrapped fish on the steamer plates and steam it for 5mins
  5. Remove it and serve it hot with lemon wedges
