This bread pudding is especially popular in Britain and we think it fairly likely that it was served as a dessert in the era of King George, which is when Downton Abbey is set.

Instructions
  1. Preheat an oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Break the bread into pieces and spread them across a 8 inch baking pan.
  3. Sprinkle the melted butter over the bread.
  4. Whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, cinnamon and vanilla.
  5. Pour this mixture over the bread, tossing gently until it is completely soaked.
  6. Bake the bread in the oven for 45 minutes.
  7. Take the pudding out of the oven and allow it to cool.
  8. Serve!
