Chow Chow Kara Kulambu

Chow Chow Kootu is a popular and easy to make veg accompaniment in Tamil Nadu meal menu; goes well with Chapathi as well!

Ingredients

For roasting and grinding

Instructions

  1. Dry roast fenugreek seeds & coarsely grind
  2. Heat 2 tbsp sesame oil in a pan , add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, Bengal gram and urad dal.
  3. Add curry leaves, asafoetida, garlic, onion & sauté well
  4. Add fenugreek powder saute.
  5. Add tomato saute till soft.
  6. Add chow chow, turmeric, red chilli powder saute.
  7. Then add water, cook till soft.
  8. Add ground paste & water mix well let it boil.
  9. Add tamarind water & salt let it boil
  10. Add jaggery mix well let it boil for 2 min.
  11. Then cut off heat, serve hot with rice, idly, dosa.
