Golden, Crisp Chicken Delight!
Ring in the fourth of July with this delicious American fried chicken recipe!
Instructions
  1. 1) Put the chicken pieces in a container and cover with buttermilk. Refrigerate overnight.
  2. 2) On high heat, melt a large amount of shortening in a heavy fry pan.
  3. 3) Drain the excess buttermilk out of the chicken and then mix the salt, paprika, garlic powder and cayenne pepper into the chicken.
  4. 4) Dip the chicken in a bowl of flour and shake of any excess flour.
  5. 5) Put pieces of chicken in the pan and cook until it is golden brown on each side.
  6. 6) If possible, while cooking monitor the internal temperature of the chicken. It should be at around 180 degrees .
  7. 7) Remove the chicken from the pan and drain the oil on a rack.
  8. 8) Serve!
