Do We Really Need Pink Coloured “Beer For Women”? #POLL

on

It’s the age of gender equality, women empowerment, feminism, and equal opportunity for all. Now, speaking on the most debatable and sensitive one of them all, Feminism has garnered a fair share of attention, and with good reason. 2107 has brought on a number of positive changes in the field, albeit certain questionable ones. Like the fact that women can now enjoy their very own “beer for her”.

Yay.

No, seriously, who needs the boring old pale ales, lagers, and wheat beer when we have a specially crafted spirit? Made by Aurosa, a Czech brewery, the women-specific beer comes in a gorgeous, not stereotypical at all, shiny pink bottle with pretty marble swirls, just in case someone perceived it as non-feminine, you know.

Marina Smirova, the brand’s founder, claims that the beer is a “representation of a woman’s strength and a girl’s tenderness”. Because nothing crushes womanhood harder than a chilled pint, right?

The alcohol has been on Czech shelves for some time now and made its way over to London last week for a little over £8 a bottle, for which it received pint-loads of flak because a bottle of Heineken costs just £2. But that’s okay because we’re used to shell out more money on our stuff like undergarments, sanitary napkins, and the works.

The brand defended itself, saying: “Aurosa was never intended to take part in sexism, feminism or the like. We are simply a brand that wants to offer beer in an elegant and beautiful bottle, something that has not been done before, for those women who want it and who’s lifestyle we fit.”

And plus how totally bizarre would it be for a lady to kick back with a crate of – God forbid – “manly” beer like Corona, Guinness, or Budweiser? *Gasps*

So, what do you think? Do we need this woman-friendly beer? Vote below and let us know!
