What started as a way to honour the men and women who served donuts during World War I, has gone on to become a great American tradition. The
holiday was instituted by the Chicago Salvation Army to commemorate the
efforts of the “Donut Lassies”.
This year, the tradition continues on Friday, June 7 with the return of the
annual National Donut Day. The chefs at ITC Windsor are putting together a
Chef’s action table with delectable choice of sweet and savoury donuts to
scintillate your taste buds.
For the appetizers try the Mini Beet Berliner Sliders, Pickled Mushroom and
Parmesan Donuts, Smoked Salmon and Feta Lokmas, Pork Ham and Candied Fig Donuts, and Cheddar, Jalapeno and Scallion Donuts.
The dessert menu will include sweet donuts with choicest of toppings to choose from, including Berry Ganache, Nuts, Nougats, Fresh Fruits, Butter Cream and Fruit Jellies, and Donut-Bouche: The Grand Donut Croquembouche.
Make your own donut sandwiches with chef rafted fillings and toppings like Chicken pate, Salmon Mousse, Chicken ham, Fried Quail eggs, Paprika Hollandaise, Fresh Mesulan Greens, Caramelized Mushrooms, and Tossed spinach roasted beetroot.
Block your calendar and keep the traditions alive by grabbing one, or even
a dozen, of the scrumptious fried treats, only at Raj Pavilion.
