What Should Be The Plural Of “Beef”? #POLL

on

The Internet (and multiple trusted dictionaries as well) says it’s “beeves”, by the way.

Yep, come out of your holes all you grammar Nazis and English language experts because we’ve got some major beef (pun intended) with the Singular-Plural sensibility of the World Wide Web! The Internet is the watering hole for all knowledge and fact hungry people, and every once in a while the human brain comes across a snippet of information that, though a fact, it deems impossible to digest. For example the dress that was white one moment and golden the other, and more such “controversies”. The most recent one being about meat. Beef to be exact.

The digital universe recently discovered that the plural of “beef” (yes, cow meat) is not beefs, beefes, or even a simple beef (like fish, sheep, etc.). In fact, the plural of beef is “beeves”. This beefy debate started on Tumblr (of course), when BuzzFeed News reporter Ryan Broderick came across a post from the site, which featured a screenshot of a dictionary entry for “Beeves.” And, needless to say, everybody freaked! Why? BECAUSE, BEEVES!!!

It may make some sense (like leaf becomes leaves) but then so did the Unicorn Frappuccino. Point being, how come we never heard of this before?! Did you know it? Or did you think the plural of beef was something else? Let us know in the poll below!
