Pippa Midleton and James Matthews’ wedding has been nothing short of international news. Right from her gorgeous white lace gown by Giles Deacon to Kate Middleton donning the strict mommy hat with Prince George and Princess Charlotte, the ceremony had its fair share of candid moments and elaborate deets to gush about. But the one major detail that has got us wishing that we were BFFs with bride is the wedding menu, which was way more lavish than our brain can ever fathom. Here’s what the guests were served.
The day’s events, which saw two different wedding receptions – one held in the afternoon and one in the evening, that had their own separate menus that were filled a number of delicious foods catered by Blue Strawberry and Table Talk. According to Food & Wine, guests at the smaller traditional reception, which was held in the early afternoon on the Middleton’s family estate, enjoyed scallop and smoked salmon canapes, muntjac and mushroom carpaccio, fresh langoustine on langoustine clams, and asparagus spears with hollandaise sauce.
The newly weds hosted the more intimate reception in the afternoon where the also cut a four tiered wedding cake, which was a traditional fruit cake encased in pristine white icing (much like what Kate Middleton and Prince William served at their wedding in 2011). The cake was custom made by London-based cake designer Domino Purchas.
Moving on to the late reception that was hosted for a bigger crowd. This party saw a lavish traditional Scottish feast with haggis, foie gras, and caviar. But here’s a fun fact, 17 pounds of beluga caviar was donated by “an anonymous Russian source.” The party also saw plenty of spirits including champagne and whiskey to pair the food with.
And for the kids, who probably deserved a loaded meal after a long day of flowergirl-ing and pageboy-ing, were served a special spread featuring finger sandwiches and vegetables. Basically, it was one helluva wedding and the reception(s) that followed were truly lavish as well and everybody went home satiated and happy!
