Pani Puri Contest Became The Highlight At A Food Festival In Chembur

According to a report by the Times of India, a food festival was held recently in Chembur under the banner of ‘No Cooking Day.’ Organised at St.Anthony’s ground, the concept of the festival was to get out of the kitchen and enjoy a myriad of cuisines that included Koli, Mexican, and a variety of seafood and desserts. This was the second edition of the festival and the proceeds were donated for a good cause by giving it to an organisation that supports orphans.

The highlight of the Chembur Food Festival was not just the sumptuous food but a variety of activities as well. This included live performances, shopping, games like jumping jack, trampoline, painting, tattoo art and pottery. Apart from these, there were two food trucks serving their food items at the festival and there were also exciting performances put up by the residents. The crowd sang at the karaoke and also attended a self defence workshop.

What stood out amongst all this fun was the Pani Puri eating competition which was open to all age groups and was organised by The Bhukkad Flea. “The contest had interesting variations in the rounds to make them challenging,” said Niraj Agarwal, The Bhukkad Flea. “The first round was a knockout. In round two, it got a little tougher. Here, people had to break the puris, add the filling inside and eat them – all with one hand. In the third round, they had to eat the pani puri without using hands. They really had a fun time while doing so,” he added.
