on

Passengers of the Indian Railways are opting for the no food option while travelling in premium trains reports the New Indian Express. The passengers are also choosing this option in two trains, Mumbai-Karmali Tejas Express and Hazrat Nizamuddin-Jhansi Gatimaan Express that are offering multi-cuisine options curated from the finest kitchens. In 2016, this no food option was made available for 74 trains and till date more that 40 lakh passengers have picked the option.

No Food Say Passengers

The report by the daily also says that 1.91 lakh passengers travelling via the August Kranti Mumbai-Hazrat Nizamuddin Rajdhani have taken the no food option. The option was given to convenience passengers who like carrying their own food but it seems that railway food itself is not being preferred. Railways has received 7529 complaints till October 2018 and has even collect fine of Rs.1.55 crore from food vendors.

“I wish the Indian Railways would start the ‘No Food’ option in all premium trains. Why am I being forced to pay for food which is stale and unhygienic?” a frequent passenger, Ravi Gupta told the New Indian Express.
