So it looks like Oreo is not going to stop till it cracks a rainbow flavor cookie. The sandwich cookie has been released with an all-new crème filling that has got people wondering whether the company is joking. Well, obviously it’s not. What’s the new flavor, you ask?
Are you ready for this? Are you sure? *Drumrolls*
It’s called Swedish Fish. Yep, you can now twist, lick and dunk chocolate cookies filled with a crème Swedish fish filling. SMH
It’s Really Happening
Earlier on, Oreo came up with a number of flavors that included certain ‘yay’ (remember the Mint, Chocolate Chip and Birthday Cake fillings?) and some absolutely ‘nay’ ones (yes, we’re looking at you Root Beer Float). But the Swedish Fish is one bizarre catch (see what I did there?)!
“We know that consumers enjoy variety when it comes to snacking so we create all of our limited-edition flavors to provide surprising new twists people know and love and on occasion, create unexpected and unique flavor combinations that people may never have thought were possible, including our latest from the OREO Wonder Vault, Swedish Fish Flavored Crème Oreo Cookies,” an Oreo spokesperson told Business Insider.
Disgusted, excited, appalled, whatever you are, you also definitely must be curious to bite into one of these fishy cookies. But (un)fortunately, the new flavor is available only at Kroger stores this week.
What & Why?
What even on this already twisted planet does ‘Swedish Fish’ taste like? What is a Kroger store? Why, Oreo? If your brain has been flooded with these questions, here are some answers.
Swedish Fish isn’t actually a fish. Calm down, okay? The name stands for a chewy wine gum candy that originated in Sweden. Yes, that translucent red fish on the new Oreo pack is what a Swedish Fish candy looks like. And as for taste, the candy is sweet with a slight tinge of citrus and added artificial flavors. Nothing fishy there either.
If you reside in the US of A then you know what a Kroger Store is; and if you don’t, then you don’t need to know. Because, as mentioned earlier, the new Oreo flavor is available only at Kroger Stores in the US.
And lastly, because Oreo can.
