Opinion: Pumpkin Spice Cough Drops – Has America Gone Too Far?

on

September has just begun, hence for those countries around the world that do experience seasons, autumn themed products are rolling out by the dozen. We’re all familiar with Starbucks’ Pumpkin Spice Latte, and Krispy Kreme’s Pumpkin glazed doughnuts weren’t much of a stretch, but nothing could prepare us for the lastest Pumpkin Spice product – cough drops.

Brought to you by CVS, you can pick up the fall themed cough drops at a pharmacy near you (although, we do wonder why you would subject yourself to such a horror). Some Americans welcomed the news with open arms and tweets.

Erm, all right Hannah.

While other, more sensible folks were not here for it at all.

Twitter seemed to be majorly divided on whether or not Pumpkin Spice Cough Drops would be a hit, although some were willing to try it out ‘because, why not?’ While we salute the ingenuity of the American nation, it would be remiss to say that we didn’t have any opinions on the cough drops.

For starters, why would you mix menthol and pumpkin? That sounds like something alien that even aliens wouldn’t eat (although, perhaps if the aliens were white teenage girls). Also, isn’t it enough that you already have so many lovely pumpkin spice things that you don’t want to barf at the sight of? If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it?
