Now You Can Opt Out Of Eating IRCTC Food In Rajdhani

Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has given passengers a choice to opt out of the catering service offered on-board Mumbai-Delhi Rajdhani, August Kranti Rajdhani and in several trains across India where the catering service is under the corporation. The passengers can opt-out at the time of booking the tickets.

Ravinder Bhakar, Western Railway chief public relations officer told Times of India, Passengers will have to exercise the option mandatorily at the time of booking. They will not be able to change the option once selection is made.” (sic) To make local cuisine available to the passengers, Indian Railways has advised IRCTC to provide e-catering services on the stations.

The passengers seem happy about the decision as it will not only save them money but also they can eat meals of their choice and even carry home-cooked food. “I am a diabetic and have to forego the food for health reasons. This is a very good step,” says a Ghatkopar resident Suman Shah to Times of India. Another passenger from Mulund, Akshay Jain said, “I prefer Jain food, bereft of onion and garlic. It is a waste of money for people like me who pay for food but do not consume it.”
